About Us

 

Chinese studies at the University of Manchester can be traced back to the early 20th century, when Edward Harper Parker (1849 - 1926) was appointed Professor of Chinese at the Victoria University of Manchester.

The Centre was created in 2004 as a new platform for innovative, interdisciplinary research into contemporary China and the Chinese-speaking world.
