Resources

John Rylands University Library

JRUL has a holding of more than 4 million printed books and manuscripts, over 20,000 electronic journals and 250,000 electronic books, as well as several hundred databases, one of the best-resourced academic libraries in the country. It has recently received a large donation of books in Chinese history, literature and cultural studies from the Chinese government. It also subscribes to the database of Chinese journals.

The Centre has a Resource Room which holds some major reference work in Chinese language and culture. CCS is now working with the University Library in building up an East Asian Library Collection with good collections about modern and contemporary China.

University Language Centre

Students can benefit from the access to the University Language Centre, which holds about 100 Chinese DVDs (documentary and feature films) and other audio-video language learning materials. This holding is expected to be further strengthened through new purchases and donation.
